Raised To Life
Baptism is something we regularly celebrate at UCC. It's an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Christ - and a celebration God has given us that embodies how we die to ourselves and find true and satisfying new life in Jesus. If you've made the decision to follow Christ, we'd encourage you to get baptized now, wherever you are! This can look a lot of different ways, but you really just need an area of water - bathtub, pool, pond, lake, etc. And we have some good news - anyone who has a relationship with Jesus can baptize you! If you have a friend, family member, or mentor who has been a part of your faith journey, ask them to do it. If you have made this decision, please let us know, we would love to follow up!
We can also schedule a time for you to come to UCC and get baptized! This baptism can be done by your mentor or a staff member at UCC. If you desire to have any friends/family members with you, feel free to bring them as well! Again, we as a staff always encourage you to be baptized by someone who has been walking through life with you or has been a mentor in your life.

What is baptism and who should be baptized?
Baptism is a celebration God has given us that embodies how we die to ourselves and find true and satisfying new life in Jesus. We follow the example of the early church, given in Acts - “Repent and be baptized.” Anyone who commits to follow Jesus and has asked for forgiveness from their sin is able to be baptized - immersed in water, by another believer, immediately following their decision.

Does baptism save me?
Baptism apart from faith in Jesus has no spiritual significance - the water itself possesses no magical powers. Faith that leads you to submit to Christ, as shown in baptism, is the kind of faith that saves. Think of baptism like a ring given to a spouse in a marriage ceremony. It’s not the ring that makes the marriage, but it is a symbol of the promise being made. Baptism is like that, an outward declaration of an inward decision to commit to following Jesus.
What age can I be baptized?
There is no “right age” to be baptized. When a person can understand and make that commitment to Jesus on their own, they are ready to be baptized. The gospel is simple enough that an elementary-aged child can understand it. We also come alongside families with a Kid’s Baptism Class leading up to each Baptism Sunday.
Can I get rebaptized?
Sometimes young people (and adults) are baptized for the wrong motives: the fear of being left out, the desire to make someone else happy, or even craving the attention given to those who are baptized. If someone was baptized for any reason other than faith in Christ, that person should consider being immersed - this time as an expression of his or her personal faith and devotion to Christ. Sometimes people feel that they’ve strayed from the Lord - in those cases, seek a time of confession and repentance. Sometimes adults think they should be baptized again because they know more now than they did when they were first immersed. Yet a person does not have to have complete knowledge to be baptized. If that were the case, no one could ever be baptized! This comes down to a personal choice - and one we’d happily talk and pray about with you!
